Well we drifted a bit from the OP topic.... but I think the best advice seems to be for the OP to get a e-ink dedicated reader to complement her net book. Since she wants to travel internationally with it that seems to limit her to the the Kindle 3G, is that right?
Personally I prefer to only travel with one device if possible, but to replace the net book she would need a tablet, and not a dedicated e-reader.
