Don't worry, Hollyweird will be back buying the US Gov't in another 5-6 years to get another extension. My guess is they'll go for 100 more years, since the Supremes said any amount that wasn't perpetual was ok....
Instead of protecting the artist's rights, this time I expect the PR line is that they have to have the extension to create jobs. You're already starting to hear that catch line here in the Land of the Fee.
