Yes, it's Pearl. This is a common confusion, Vizplex vs. Pearl, and has been asked about in the forums also:

Short answers from the threads:
- "A Sony "branded channel product manager" wrote back re: vizplex Vs. pearl:

The new screen (on both the PRS350 Pocket Edition and PRS650 Touch Edition) is an E-Ink Pearl Display – specifically the E-Ink Pearl display is a Visplex V220 model

The “Pearl” part is the marketing name for the screen
The Visplex V220 is the specific model of screen"

- "Yep, it's using the Pearl screens, even though it displays 'Vizplex' at the bottom of the screen. When I first got my Sony PRS-350 I compared it to my Kindle DX Graphite, and the screens were the same."

For browsing folders, flashing the firmware by installing PRS+ is a solution. PRS+ lets you navigate folders. I use it to navigate folders on a memory stick.

PRS+ does not change the appearance of the PRS 950. The screenshots were based on older models.
