Supernova Sonata

This music was created by assigning one note to each supernova observed by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope during a three-year period. Those supernova explosions in massive galaxies were assigned to a bass, while supernova in smaller galaxies were played on a grand piano. The volume was determined by the distance of the explosion from Earth.

It struck me that many of those stellar explosions might be wiping out entire civilizations, making this a very somber listening experience, indeed.
