It's by no means a definitive point, but find it remarkable that these dedicated reading devices, which are frequently dismissed as having no future, have managed to hang around in various forms for so long, both as physical devices, and
much longer as notional ones in fiction: for something with "no future," the idea seems to have surprising staying power.
