Everything I've been able to find says no. I did read a couple posts about extracting the firmware from an older kindle to install on a newer one, but no confirmation on whether it really works, or instructions on how to do it.

If that is possible, I'd love to know, as my wife got her kindle a few months ago at 3.1, and I could theoretically do this with hers to roll mine back.

Yeah, but it wouldn't it be a lot easier if they just let us change the damn screen savers (on no-ad Kindles at least), since that's what most jailbreakers are looking to do anyway?
