When I've taken mine out of the city, and we plan on "roughing" it (you know, with portable grills, comfy tents and sleeping bags, filtered water, etc.), I toss mine in a ziplock and keep it stowed safely. Never have had any issues. Peaceful reading in the wee-morning hours.
