I also cant remember exactly what I did but I remember authorising with ADE. I cannot use SL for some reason but after authorising with ADE I can use Calibre and everything is working fine.
What I dont know is if you can authorise more than 1 device with ADE
sorry couldnt be any more helpful

I was making the assumption that since you already own a PRS-650, you had registered that device with Sony and had an account with them. I don't know from my own experience if you can buy books from Sony with a UK address. Poppea (in Germany) and Ivy (in Croatia) seem to be able to get books from Sony. I also assumed that you are familiar with Adobe Digital Editions and its use in downloading DRM'd books. Are you already using Calibre?
How have you been putting books on your existing reader?
Anyway, my previous post was only meant to point the way to the appropriate section of Sony's site/bookstore for you to register your ereader, which will allow Sony to 'recognize' the device so that you can add books using the Sony Reader Library app. Let us know how it goes.

Ok, guys and girls, Mommy is here now and will explain this to you!
- The Reader Library is Sonys kind of Calibre. It lets you manage your library. To be able to read DRMed epubs you have to register your device with it.
- Reader Library does the same things ADE does. You can borrow your books from the library with it. You can also buy books in every bookstore that sells epub with Reader Library the same as if you'd buy it via ADE. So actually you don't need ADE if you use RL. If you like ADE better than RL you can use ADE. They do the same things. Only thing ADE does not is enableing you to buy books in the Sony bookstore.
- You need Reader Library to buy from the Sony bookstore.
- Sony bookstore is only available for those who have a US address. So either you don't buy with them or you cheat with the address.
- Those outside the US who want to use the Sony bookstore have to download another Reader Library copy from Sony USA as the one they get with their reader to set up an account with the Sony bookstore. The Reader Liberary that comes with a Sony bought in Germany, i.e. will hint you to TWO of Germanys biggest epub selling stores.
- ADE allows you to register 6 devices. If more are to be registered you can ask ADE to give you more allowances.
- You can use ADE, RL and Calibre all together but not at once. If you open RL make sure ADE is closed.
In Mojos case I recommend strongly the use of RL. It is easy to handle, intuitiv and can do all he needs to do. Calibre would be overkill for you Mojo. It has far too many features and buttons and will only confuse you.
The Reader Library will lead you to Waterstones if I am not mistaken and one or two other stores to choose from. That should be fine enough.
Calibre is a very fine program but it is not for those who have only basic computer skill IMO.
