One of my WWI reference books details the cases of the five Kiwis known to have been executed in WWI. It makes for some shocking reading (especially the case of a boy who put his age up to enlist, and then just found it all too horrible to bear). The Aussies refused to execute any of their soldiers; a refusal that annoyed General Haig no end.
