Batteries are replaceable, but if you are not familiar with the structure of kindle dx of kindle 3, it is still a little troublesome.you can follow the following steps:
1. Turn Off the device: slide the unlock keys and wait about 7 seconds until the device is turned off.
2. Remove the upper antenna cover: press the middle part of the cover and slide it upwards slightly until it is separated. It is also feasible to remove the cover with a tool. Insert a blade in between the back cover and the antenna cover then pry off the cover carefully.
3. Remove the back cover: There is a screw on both upper right part and upper left corner of the back cover. Unscrew them with a Phillips screwdriver. And then remove the back cover.
4. Replace the battery: There are two screws fastening the battery. Unscrew them, and take off the battery. Then Insert the new battery. After that, screw on the screws to fasten the battery.
5. Install the back cover: Put the back cover on the motherboard. Push it slightly upwards, until it is aligned with the two screws holes. Then screw on the screws to fasten the rear cover. After that, install the antenna cover.
