you can buy french electronic book in epub format on french store... like Fnac.com.. (you buy it then download it and put it on your kobo ..).. just use your credit card...
the good thing with digital electronic is that you don't need to wait for the boat or plane travel and a stupid +30% on the sell price of french book ...
