Just my own experience - I use ADE for sideloading. Since I download ePubs for archival purposes, and borrow library books regularly, it needs to be part of the process. I find it's easiest to use ADE's shelves and copy to Kobo, and use its file structure for backing up my ePubs.

I tried Calibre a couple of times a while back but must have done something wrong and ended up corrupting the Kobo. (just me - millions of users use Calibre successfully)
