I know, I know! But when we did the free version, we weren't following the SW style guide, which calls (properly, I think) for simple and consistent Word styles. I don't even know exactly when or how it happened--but at some point, in my cleaning up the Word styles for the more recent SW/Kindle/Nook editions, a whole lot of italics (especially the rigger communication lines) got reverted to Roman and I didn't catch it. Precisely because I knew we'd been through the file so carefully, I didn't do a page-by-page recheck.

I only discovered it when I was working on the dragons omnibus, and there I saw it in time to realize I had to go through it page-by-page. The RTFs that formed the basis of the E-reads editions turned out to have a lot of really screwy Word styles in them. We weren't even checking for that, at the time. It didn't bite me until I did the SW prep. And that made me go back and look at Eternity's End, and I just about screamed.

Major pain.
