By the way, welcome to Mobileread! Thanks for posting about your issue.
I've updated the first page to make it a little more obvious - highlighting the Restart your Kindle text a bit more and adding a statement to say that restarting is not just using power on/off. And the next version will show how to do a Restart in the information dialog. There is a lot of information around, and it can be easy to miss this.
If anyone else has issues/questions just post - there's far too much old stuff to read through in this thread
