It's not an upgrade if you hate touch screens and it can't be turned off. Again, this is subjective. I have cats. They walk on my N1 while reading. Someone who doesn't want a touch screen, period, isn't going to consider "oh, it's there, I just won't use it" as a feature.

Also, if you're going to be upset about fanboi behavior, I feel I should point out that the LOOOOOONG battery life is - based on what I understand of the math - a match to the current Kindle, not better.

That's absurd. That's like saying that the calculator isn't an upgrade over the slide rule, cause you aren't planning on using it. There's a reason they are all going to be going to touch screens and that tablets are all touch screens. And, the fact that you don't use it likely means you have never tried one of the later iterations (the Sony x50 series), cause had you tried them, you would see the obvious benefits.

Either way, it's upgraded technology, period. That's not even debatable. Whether or not you use or see value in it has nothing to do with whether or not it's an upgrade. You do also recognize that the processor is a HUGE upgrade over the Kindle one, right?

And, again, those who see it as an imposition clearly have not used one for an extended period of time, as there is nothing you can't do on a touch screen that you can do on a Kindle. And, you can do it significantly easier (dictionary lookups, note taking, etc). I suspect those who don't want one think that it will leave fingerprints, etc, which is simply not the case. There is NO difference in clarity (in direct sunlight or otherwise).

And, we can agree to disagree on the point of whether you call it an upgrade or not. And, while some on here might find it a nuissance, the VAST majority will consider it an upgrade (there's a reason that they are all going to be going to it, including, likely, the Kindle).
