I so wish that manufacturers would get that metadata recognition or folder support is important to many people. It seems funny to me how they like to boast how many books you can store on their ereaders and then don't give you the proper tools to be able to organize them! I don't want to manually shelve hundreds of books, especially if a reset may lose the work. It would be nice if whatever "MyNook" turns out to be allows for syncing of shelves for B&N content across multiple devices (like on your Nook e-ink and NOOKcolor) like Amazon does for Kindles. That would be a step in the right direction.
I'll join the crowd. Lack of organization for hundreds of books is what has turned me to the Sony 950. Nook "Shelves" are cumbersome to organize with on the Nook classic... though they should be better on a full touchscreen. However, the real problem is that a reset will lose all the work. If shelves could sync to the online library, then you've got at least some backup. Even so, since that would probably only apply to BN purchased content and not My Documents, still not good enough, really. But at least people could transfer organization for purchased content from device to device.

I need something that I can do on my computer and backup or something that is fully backed up online for me. No one wants to have to re-do all their book organization from device to device, even within the same brand. And as I have a lot of non-purchased content, I really want organization to apply to ONE library, not segregated libraries. Folders are OK and I could work with that if I had to, but I prefer tags. Sony lets Calibre tags make collections automatically on the reader when books are transferred to the reader through Calibre. Simple and elegant.

BN's insistence on two libraries and the lack of good organization have pushed me away for now. My new Sony 950 was only $199 on clearance and I'm really glad that hubby didn't wait for the BN announcement of the new Nook to grab it for me! Smart man.
