hi folks,

i know starting the first post with a problem isn't always the best thing to do, but ... i got my hands on a used faulty kindle dx (b005). ;-)

it seems that the kindle can't recognize the media partition anymore. he only comes up with the buildt in dictionary?? if the kindle is connected via usb, the media partition is normally accessible, both folders (documents & music) are there and i can copy stuff on it ... but still the content isn't shown on the kindle!

my next thought was to update the kindle from 2.5.3 to 2.5.8: same problem; the update option is always grayed out ;-( probably, because of the missing media partition. while the menu button is pressed, he is trying to tell me that there are only 43 mb free! what happened to the rest?

so i tried the factory setting as well the recovery mode, but nothing helps...

i would be glad to get some ideas from you ;-)
