Are you looking a the Sony because of the price? Why do you want to change from the Kobo? (just curious) And I'm not sure how much it would cost you to have it shipped to Australia. I'm showing my ignorance here, but do you have Borders in Australia?
The new Kobo Touch looks nice & should be in stores by June or July.
From what I read linux & the 350 should be fine. I have Mac computer & it works fine with that. But it wouldn't hurt to research it.

Yes we have Borders in Australia but I live in a rural area and so I have to buy online. Borders has no sony ereaders in stock. I'm interested in buying on because I want a touch screen as I read fast and I'm sick of pressing a button to turn the pages. Lame reason I suppose.
My Kobo is alright but I would like to try something else out and I quite like the look of the Sony. The Sony PRS650 is hard to get.
