Happy birthday to King James Bible.

The King James Bible turns 400 this year. There's a number of excellent books about how it came to be written. "In the Beginning" by Alistair McGrath is one of my favourites.

"Begat..." by David Crystal is a newish one. Crystal writes about the influence the KJV has had on the English language. Amazon has a "Click to look inside" preview that includes the book's Index of Expressions. Just those pages are worth a browse. The reviews lead me to suspect it may be a bit shallow though, so it's probably a "Buy" for me when it turns into a cheap Kindle.
