I actually like the pinned column idea. This is something that spreadsheets have done for years. In many cases, the user needs (wants) to see many columns of information, but one or two key columns are always needed. Pinning those columns to the left yet still allowing the user to scroll through other columns is a very useful tool.

However, given that I haven't written a line of code in about 20 years, I have no idea whether this would be easy to implement.
