Good news: One of my neighbors has an unsecured WLAN and Comcast internet.

Wish I knew who it was so I could thank them. Can't do any work-related stuff on an unsecured connection but at least I can find out what's going on in the rest of the world. The AT&T guys are working on our pole right now; I made sure to thank them and told them to be careful in the heat.

Weather - sunny, very warm, breezy and chance of severe storms (with hail and high winds again) tonight. I've got my spot marked in the basement in case those winds take on a circular pattern. (Refuse to say the "t" word.) I'm glad it's nice out right now because I couldn't get a good connection in the house so I'm out front.
if you ever want to show your appreciation to a lineman (or woman), take a pot or a pitcher of either hot coffee or cold water or iced tea depending on the season. speaking from experience...
