Okay I guess I'm persona non grata around this forum, so only =X= seems to care to answer. But here is my guess as to the charset issue I encountered. I think, but this is just a somewhat educated guess, that the issue is due to the dictionaries being used. The Kindle for Android app uses the Oxford English Dictionary and it works wonderfully and no charset issues are evident. The Nook for Android app uses the Merriam-Webster online dictionary and no charset issues are evident with it either. Several reader apps use the Fora Dictionary and/or the ColorDict dictionary, and both of these dictionaries have charset issues.
