I use kobobooks.com as well. My husband recently downloaded the "Kindle for Mac" application for his laptop and he can download books on the computer, then use Calibre to organize, remove the DRM and they can be transfered to his kobo (or to my edge, if we wanted).

jbcohen, it's not entirely correct to say Tinah is looking at the problem wrong. Due to copyright and distribution agreements, there are many commercial sources that are, strictly speaking, not available to Canadians simply because of our geographical location. I know it sounds crazy, but there are ebooks available on Amazon, Borders and even the old Entourage bookstore itself that "can not be purchased in your area."

You're correct to say she should focus on the format, as those will all technically open on the edge, but when it comes to actually purchasing books (she asked about getting and purchasing), we ARE limited in our choices unless we employ a little digital sleight of hand.
