I agree that the STR is bit on the ugly side. Side bezel's a bit too wide? It just seems like it should be just a bit taller to duplicate the familiar proportions of a hard book. One day we won't use paper as a standard, but I just don't think we're there yet.

But, once reading, a comfortable feel is the most important feature, and I trust that they did get that right. Classic Nooks are very comfortable. I'll have to hold one of the new ones in my hands at a store demo to see how it feels.

I do agree with ditching the browser and the mp3 player. They added cost, while adding little. Who doesn't use a Zune/iPod as their preferred audio solution?

Support is going to be big, though. Kindle has been adding all kinds of little apps, little things like games, unit conversion tools, etc, that really add a lot of customer satisfaction.

Battery life is fantastic, though. Congrats on the team for finding a reliable battery and keeping the current low enough to reach that. I will be happy if it reaches half that.
