They are not pixels in the true sense of the word. They are tiny spheres with one half being black and the other white. They are suspended in a bubble of oil which allows them to rotate, so you either see black or white. Sounds like one of yours is not rotating.

Personally I don't agree with that, I have just purchased a 650 and the quality is excellent. From what you and everyone else has said I think you must have been sold a display model that has had a lot of attention.
But whatever the reason is for this just take it back and demand a replacement, in fact you should have done that as soon as you took it out of the box.
