I hope you know I wasn't intending to belittle you in any way, Poppaea. Nor is anything you've said laughable (in the pejorative sense -- I like the fact you're able to laugh at yourself).

It's impossible for anyone to know every word in a given language. If we did, we wouldn't need dictionaries.

I not only have to look up words I'm unfamiliar with but also the exact meanings of words I presume to know.

All of which can be fun, since dictionaries are works of art.
