Shouldn't be a problem, the iNewsStand software is only active when you're running it; as soon as you quit, the iLiad is back to normal. I've got a Linux PC, so I can't speak with great authority on the Mac, but as far as I understand it, the main problem is that registering your iLiad is impossible with the Mac's built-in browser, and until you're registered you can't download updated iLiad software from the IDS service. If you use Firefox, its fine. You can't use the PC software that comes with the iLiad, but you can just plug it in via USB and it shows up as a mass storage device for adding books from the computer.

As for Richard Herley, you should thank Puffball for that. I hadn't heard of him either until last week when he posted a link to his page!
