The only thing you really need to worry about is the hardware version, and it sounds like you're good. The currently installed firmware doesn't matter, since it will be over-written. The nookdevs softroot ROM is just a copy of the same B&N 1.5 firmware you're running now, but with some customizations and additions.

When you follow the softroot instructions, what you're doing is you're rolling back to the old 1.0 firmware (wiping out your existing 1.5 firmware), then upgrading back up to a rooted version of 1.5.
