Umm... NO! "Personal Computer" was not coined when IBM produced the IBM PC running PC DOS (which happened in August 1981).

I used to get a magazine, Personal Computer World which covered the launch of the IBM PC. The magazine started in February 1978, so the term "Personal Computer" must have been in common use even then.

A Personal Computer is any single-user desktop-or-smaller general purpose computer. But a PC is now specifically a windows-based personal computer.

Language changes. I got over it. You should too.
