The World Book Encyclopedia is worthless? Granted, it has to some extent been superseded by the Intarwebs, but still . Many a good childhood afternoon learning from those ... *sigh*. I wish I still had my Childcraft books - the hand-drawn art in it (especially for Our Universe) was just magnificent.

In any case, I could never do anything like that to a book, even trashy ones. Respect for books was too deeply ingrained in me by my dear mother . That's why even the idea of ripping apart a book to scan it (though it is sort of a kind of immortality for the poor martyred book and intellectually, I know it's not a big deal) makes me a little queasy at times . Still, to each his own I guess.
