But THIS is the answer I was looking for, or at least, a big part of it. Besides usually being unable to bite through a wet suit because of short fangs, and having a relatively small mouth to begin with, the sea snake can adjust the volume of it venom injected with each bite, and unless it thinks it can eat its victim, won't waste venom. Although extremely deadly, very few fatalities actually occur, and most of them are small children playing the snakes that wash up on the beach and the kids get bitten on the fingers.
