It seems as if there hasn't been any activity here for a couple of days, so I'll post a question.

Two days ago, while diving a coral reef, I came across a sea snake. Sea snake venom is much more toxic than the venom of land snakes. Perhaps 10 times as toxic as a King Cobra. I was less than a meter away from the snake, in open water, yet I wasn't worried in the slightest about getting bitten. It was alive and swimming and there was nothing between me and he (she?) to keep it away from me. I wasn't drunk (or stupid) yet I felt safe.

Why?
