Wikipedia's been groveling for donations for forever (as is common for a lot of community and open source projects), Google gets its money selling advertising and buying up other for profit companies. Apache, Linux and more are collaborative works of love that aren't designed to make money.
Where are all these corporations supposed to make money when they stop clinging to that outdated model? Because I really don't see it.
