I would not compare Amazon to any other app. or store here in USA. Do you know how big and important for Apple, Amazon is? It's a necessary relationship. Amazon is the biggest online retailer in USA and sells Apple products as well. There are tons of people that buy music from Amazon and listen those on iPods. Or people who buy books and magazines from Amazon and use the iPad for reading.
If something is going to happen, I would say is Kindle for iOs working as an ereader only, lacking the button/option to sell books.
Not impossible, but really difficult that Amazon will pull Kindle app. altogether, it will be a bad move for both companies. Amazon understands the existence of iPads and their users.
