USB / HTML is not a word, you say U-S-B or H-T-M-L, not like swat where you say swat like swat a fly, but still people say USB / HTML is an acronym. I guess general use is wrong.

That sounds like an oximoron. I mean the way we use many words today would have been considered "wrong" a few centuries ago; The precise understanding of a word can evolve overtime. So arguably the only difference between right and wrong is how widely the usage is accepted.
