The All Books section is a list by title.

I would like to have an option for ignoring tags. The vast majority of tags in my collection are automatically downloaded via metadata updates.

This would be easy enough to do. No-one else has asked for it up to now. Currently you can filter the tags to be used, but not supress that section of the catalog completely.

I would like to have the ability to catalog based on categories... in particular... user-generated categories. I organize my Calibre library via a user-identified category with over 100 sub-categories (games, history, government, medical, etc.). This would also allow cataloging by isbn or published date, etc.
|
How are you storing these categories in Calibre? Because of the way that calibre2opds works it would be non-trivial to organize the generated catalogs by arbitary fields. Support for calibre user-defined fields is something that we would like to add at some time, but is a huge change which has not been fully designed yet (let alone implemented).

In particular... the thumbnail display in html is rather wanting... I'd like to see something similar to the cover view in Eric's Movie Database... rather than having to identify the book by some other means before seeing the cover.

I am not sure how you would see this operating. I assume that you have tried the "Browse by Cover" view of the HTML catalogs as well as the thumbnail view? One has to bear in mind that anything that is implemented has to be possible in static HTML as at the time the user browses the catalog and downloads books the calibre metadata database is no longer being used.

Have you read the
online documentation? It is possible that it might answer some of your questions. If not any suggestions on ways to improve it are always welcome (and as it is a wiki you can make changes directly).
