Well I can see you putting this to one side with the issues you've had. If you want to revisit it, you can PM with details to be checked.

It should import the collections you have on the Kindle. If you run View Report do you see any warnings about problem books that might need fixing? If you run Edit collections, do you see all your books in the collections you expect to see them (View and Edit just read the data directly from the Kindle regardless of what's in calibre).

And if by only 1 collection showing up in Calibre, you mean on the Devices tab, then its a known issue that the Devices tab doesn't show all collections. If you mean on the import, then the view or edit might give more info there, but it might require more debugging/detailed reports.

But if you are going to use tags to build your collections, then you can use the plugin to create collections on the kindle based on your tags. And that would open another set of questions
