I guess that's something for format developers and readers manufacturers to answer. But then that's pretty much like every single aspect of ebooks imo - there's still so much to invent, from the form to narration modes or distribution models.

But right now we're stuck with the good ol' paper-like cover, and even that is migraine-inducing. Between the Kindle, Kindle DX, iPad, Nook... while there's modules to automatically resize uploaded images, I'm not sure the different DPIs can be dealt with that easily.
See, that's why I was fishing for interested devs :P
