Always. But my TX has lcd, so I'm restricted to paper books on the beach. That's more or less only time when I'm in the sun with nothing else to do than sit and fry. Concerts or walking on the street don't really count (though I sometimes read a paper on the street, especially on the way to the bus stop).
We have lot of cloudy days and august sun is already too weak for tanning, in winter it starts to go dark around 3 - for me lcd is definitely better.
