Restoring corrupted keys (/etc/uks) on DXG

I have a DXG on firmware 2.5.5 and I believe the keys in /etc/uks are damaged, as I can no longer install any updates. Both the amazon update to 2.5.8 as well as jailbreak 0.7 are failing, with "signature verificatoin failed" messages in the log. E.g.:

signature verification failed on "09/update-09-495460008-550650009.bin"

I think this is a result from me trying to uninstall all sorts of hack - at first, I didn't know how to see the update log, so when the 2.5.8 update was failing, I tried to recall what hacks I might have installed and ran a whole bunch of uninstallers on it. In the course of this, I also uninstalled the jailbreak I had on the device.

I found what are supposed to be the original keys from /etc/uks, but is there any chance at all I can copy them to the device without it being jail broken?
