maybe we should pop the corn first, and while it's still hot, we would pread or sprinkle the chocolate bits on it and let them melted by the heat... that would avoid the soggy popcorn and the burn chocolate

That probably wouldn't work out too well. The proper way to make chocolate coated popcorn is to start by making a chocolate candy mixture, then pour it on the popcorn before it hardens. There are a plenitude of recipes online if you're interested.
