Transfering into my device (Kindle 3) via wifi was very quick! It's really getting the news in Calibre that was an issue.

I have the same problems with BBC news feed. The guardian and glasgow herald are fast at about <7mins.
I am running fairly old lap top (Acer 7720, 1.5GHz Dual Core, 1Gb ram)
Takes around 20-30 mins to make up the news feed.
Most of the time seems to be taken up "trimming" and creating the MOBI output.
Despite this the software is excellent and I have found ti to be most useful.
