I would go to "beginners" chat group and just read what people say, on a very rare occasion say something. I was always watching MTV at the same time, TV was opposite my PC. Most of the time I would sit with my back to the PC screen. It just so happened, that I turned my head for a moment and on the fast running text (beginners group is quite lively) on the 14" screen I noticed that somebody asked: Does anybody speak Russian? ....I do, I might say Hi.
That was it.

I have a similar story. I met a GF on IRC because her ISP information showed she was in Boston. But it turned out that she was in Nashua, NH. I was home sick from work and bored. Just on IRC and when she came into the chat room looking like she was from Boston, I said hello to her. I wasn't looking for a GF. Just talking to her because she was local. So we got to talking, eventually decided to eet offline and not long later she because my GF. We did eventually break up. But we managed to remain friends. She eventually moved to Texas and I lost track of her.
