Some would argue that most of the unpolished "diamonds" of digital texts are most likely not to be found on official e-ink device sites. The content at Amazon & SONY Connect are there because of a major investment on the part of large publishing houses. Not surprisingly, the Science Fiction houses have been some of the first to branch out into digital texts.

Depending on what your interests are, you can find works created independently.

Personally, I prefer non-fiction or neo-absurdist authors like J. Fforde, Palahniuk, and C. Moore. However, if a book is selling in the hundreds of thousands, someone must doing something right.
