Kobo not speaking to Calibre

Hello,

I've tried Google and searching these forums but haven't found an issue exactly like my own. I use a Kobo WiFi and just last night loaded a new book. I read roughly forty pages, powered off, and went to sleep. This morning, I booted it up to find the book (and most of my other loaded books) missing. I plugged it into the computer and updated to 1.9 with the desktop software. When booting up Calibre I get the following:

calibre, version 0.8.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

database disk image is malformed

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 62, in run
File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 298, in _books
File "site-packages/calibre/devices/kobo/driver.py", line 195, in books
DatabaseError: database disk image is malformed

This doesn't bode well...I'd LOVE to not have to reset to factory settings as I'm a good 200 pages into the one book it did not delete. I understand the new update allows us to jump to a page but not having tried it yet, am nervous. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance!
