Due to the arrangment of my Kindle 3 case, getting the cable out and back in is annoying. The simple solution? I ordered a second cable to keep at my desk. Some cables may not work with some machines. This one works with Kindle 3s and is short (1.5 ft) so it doesn't get tangled up. It's actually for a Blackberry
