Season 1 of Smallville, episode 19: "Crush." Clark is set to move in on Whitney Fordman's girfriend, Lana Lang. We can see she really loves Clark, and he loves her, but neither has made a move to declare their true feelings because of their respect for Whitney. But now Lana has finally decided to let Whuitney know how she feels about Clark, but before she can drop her bombshell, Whitney drops one of his own: His dad has just died. Knowing this is the wrong time, neither she nor Clark say anything else. At the funeral, you can see Whitney grieving for his lost father as stolen glances between Clark and Lana speak volumes. Adding to the drama are the looks on the face of Chloe Sullivan, who is also in love with Clark, and was suppose to be his prom date. The music for the funeral scene was Time After Time (by Cyndi Lauper), sung by the late Eva Cassidy.
