I had a design that I wanted to get tattooed on my shoulder blade. I had no tattoos and really wasn't all that thrilled about getting one, but I REALLY wanted this special design (my own design/logo/totem) attached to me. Small size, just about 1 inch in all directions, it was important to me.

I was walking down the street in Bangkok in 1991, looking for a tattoo shop when I passed a large jewelry store that had a sign in the window that said "Custom Made to Order." I walked in, talked with the shop owner, and two days later I had my totem crafted in silver as a pendant. The only times it has been off my neck in the past 20 years has been for Chest X-rays. I had it re-made in white gold three years ago. Here is the silver version, looking a little worse for wear...



... and no pain from a tattoo!
