I consider the length of the book all the time. I've read door-stoppers that were too short and short-stories that were too long. So I tend to look for a happy medium. I'm looking for books in the 400-600 page range--that have endings.

But I also go on the occasional short-story binge. I'm on one right now... I just can't bring myself to make that novel "commitment" at the moment.
