I hate the dead proper talk too, but there should be a happy medium between slang vs proper. And I'm not sure that having proper grammar for everything except "me vs I" is believable either. Especially when a child is just learning proper grammar.

I have a coworker who says things like, "We was going to" and "I haven't saw him today". I do NOT want my child learning to speak like that.
